Sometimes a gift basket can be the just right gift to give to others at holiday time.
Santa Face with “Fuzzy Fleece” beard is the “Applique Santa” design (Single 3) from www.adesignbylyn.com used with permission. (Fuzzy Fleece is also sometimes known as Silky Fleece).
You can pick a basket size from small to extra large and include in it whatever suits your fancy and seems appropriate for the sentiments you wish to convey to the recipient at holiday time, no matter what the holiday may be.
Contents of a gift basket can be whimsical to practical to inspirational.
We like to think that gifts which tie into sensory perception are most welcome, especially during the winter holiday season.
Might we suggest a gift of inspirational, yet also practical herbs +/or spices, combined with a bit of whimsy to help celebrate the season. You could even choose to give an assortment of various extracts and maybe some lovely vanilla beans as these can be a real treat to receive at any time of year. Such gifts can be put together even at the very last minute.
Another good option could be to share regional specialty items from where you live with friends and family that live far away and may not have access to those items, yet receiving them and using them will remind them of you long after the holidays have passed. An example would be some local maple syrup, honey, apple butter, other preserves, etc., from a trusted local source.
You can also include other very practical items that will help to make food preparation at home easier and thus allow family and friends to enjoy that much more sensory appreciation of cooking at home year round. An example could include the simplest of good quality whisks along with say some holiday “chocolate kisses” and a tag that reads “I (or We) Whisk You a Merry Kiss-Mas” or “Whisking You a Merry Kiss-Mas.”
Gift jars are also popular as last minute gifts–you put together the dry ingredients for a recipe and attach the recipe and tie it up in a festive way.
Memories are linked to sensory input, so help to make new memories as you usher in a New Year 2012.
