Links to Dietetic Practice Groups:
As part of the US national dietetic organization, there are relevant Dietetic Practice Groups (DPGs). DPGs, originally established as sub-groups of the US national dietetic organization, are professional interest groups where their members can stay in touch with one another in their areas of interest and/or practice, yet which may also contain valuable resource information for the general public as well. This varies considerably from DPG to DPG. Within a DPG, members may also form recognized sub-units to focus in on more specific sub-specialty area issues of interest to DPG members.
There are currently 28 active DPGs. Typically these groups contain Registered Dietitians (RDs) aka Registered Dietitians Nutritionists (RDNs) as members, but in some instances, they may also include student members and then sometimes non-RD aka non-RDN members as well.
Two other previously active DPGs still have archived presences on the www as of the time this list was compiled in November 2011;
these groups may also offer resource information to the general public:
Note: At least 16 of the 28 active DPGs have their own Electronic Mailing Lists (EMLs) designed to promote networking and sharing of practice-related information, ideas and expertise among members and will be designated on the list below by a single asterisk (*) after the acronymn for that DPG’s name. Some DPGs may maintain more than one EML.
Each organization will be listed starting with its full name hotlinked to its website, acronym, and then followed by a listing of any applicable sub-unit(s).
